About

August 11, 2009

Kate Anderson wrote her first fantasy story — a haunted house story featuring her classmates — at the age of ten.  Since then, she’s experimented in many genres of long and short fiction.  Whatever genre she wandered into, she eventually found her way back to stories of magic, adventure, mystery, and romance.

Kate’s favorite things when she was growing up were books, music, art, technology, and travel (not necessarily in that order).  She was fortunate to grow up in the middle of the U.S. and travel to most states as a child.  She expanded those travel adventures to Mexico and Japan as a teen, then college study in Salzburg, which included as much travel around Europe as possible.  She hasn’t stopped traveling since.  While seeing the world, she has ridden a camel in the Sahara desert, flown in a balloon high above the caves of Cappadocia, Turkey, ziplined above monkeys in the tree canopy of Costa Rica, and saw the northern lights in Iceland in winter.  She even once climbed all the way up the Eiffel Tower using the stairs (whew!).

Kate has worked in technology, politics, government, and nonprofit organizations, primarily in Washington, DC, and California, with occasional forays to other states.  She presently lives in a small town near a beach, where she enjoys morning and evening beach walks every day with her dog. She’s busy writing, planning her next book, and scheduling that next travel adventure.

Kate promises that more details about her three books – Hidden Magic, The Mage Fairy War, and Harmonic Magic – will appear soon.
